Our bunny Smokey was born on January 8, 2007. We adopted him on February 19th.
We’ve had him for only 1 1/2 weeks, and it seems like we’ve always had him.
When we are home, we let him out of the cage. He hops upstairs, hides behind the couch, hops around, and doesn’t bother anyone or make a sound. He even likes to read the Bible!
I am sure he is the most amazing bunny in the world:
*he comes to us when we call him (occasionally)
*he knows to go to the bathroom in his litter box (99.5% of the time)
*he lets us cuddle him a bit (rabbits generally don’t like to be held)
*he hides behind the couch, but comes out when we come into the room (mostly for Mike, for some reason…)
*he thumps like Thumper when he is scared (I’ll tell more about that later)
Rabbits do make good house pets. Of course, it’s only been 1 1/2 weeks…

Hi, I found your website by accident and love your new bunny. I’ve had two pet bunnies for about 8 years so if you ever need a little advice, just drop me a line. The best things I’ve learned so far are that their favorite toys are 1- plastic caps, like laundry deterget caps once washed. 2 – if they get a little distructive, give them a phone book with the cover torn off. Bunnies have a need to dig, clean up the paper every few days and they will take out their agression on the book and not your carpet.
If they keep chewing on something their not supposed to, spray it with perfume. They hate the taste and the smell. It works better then bitter apple.
Look for ACIDOPHILUS tablets (digestive aid) in your grocery store. They ususlly come in banana, blueberry or strawberry. They work great as treats (once a day) and keep your bunny from getting ‘bunny bum.’ Your bunny will also learn the sound of the bottle shaking which comes in real handy when training them.
Let me know if you have any questions and congrats on your new family member. 🙂
