Egg hunt, dye eggs, baskets of prizes and candy…I did Easter activities with the kids at church today.
While I’ve had less desire to work directly with the children as I’ve gotten older, I really enjoyed them today.
Highlights:
“Everyone come give me a hug and line up to go outside!” I called. The mob of kids practically pushed me over with their hugs. Christopher would not let go. “You said to hug you. I am still hugging you!”
Sean made his plastic egg into a Pokemon with the opening of the egg as the mouth.
Bonnie was extremely helpful with the egg-dyeing activity. Even though I asked for her help at the last minute, she was so willing.
Benjamin, a very smart boy who usually doesn’t like to pay attention, was so focused on coloring his picture for the coloring contest. He spent almost the whole time working on it. I was very impressed with the way he blended the colors and the way he did the shading. This is obviously one interest he is willing to apply himself. He won the prize.
Warren and Justin who do not usually come to our church, were here today. (They came to our Vacation Bible School last summer.) They talked their parents into letting them stay after the worship service to join the Easter egg hunt.
“What is special about today?” I asked. The children did not say Easter. They said, “Jesus rose from the dead!” Hallelujah! Out of the mouth of babes…
