The station down the street is selling regular gas at $3.559 per gallon. (I hate that 3rd place decimal)
Gas prices are expected to go up higher. With my Honda Odyssey holding 20 gallons, a fill-up costs me over $60. OUCH!
People complain about gas prices. They say they can’t afford health insurance. Auto insurance is increasing.
But yet, I don’t see anyone complaining about $5 for a 10 oz cup of coffee. How much a gallon does that come up to? No one complains about $3 for a coke at the restaurant, or a movie for $12 a ticket. Going out to lunch costs at least $10 even without buying a drink or dessert.
If in one week you cut out one $5-coffee and one $3-coke at the restaurant, you’ll be saving $416 a year. That’s so easy!
Brown bag your lunch once a week and save another $500 a year!
Make your own coffee and buy cans of coke from the market for less than 50 cents a serving.
These minor adjustments do not take much effort.
Fortunately for me, I drink neither coffee nor coke. I never acquired a taste for either, and I have a heart murmur that requires me not to take caffeine.
So cutting out coffee and coke is good for your health anyway. It’s a win-win all around.

1.5 Liter of Aquafina costs $1.75
1 US gallon = 3.78541178 liters
That’s approximately $4.00 per gallon*
(*assuming you continuously purchase the 1.5liter bottles, which some people do.)

Only $3.56 per US gallon??? How lucky! If 1 US gallon is 3.78 litres then 1 litre costs you 94 cents. In the UK, we currently pay 215 cents a litre.
Yes, stick with tap water and a packed lunch…

Yeah, I never liked coffee, and stopped drinking sodas since college. I work close enough to home that I go back for lunch.
Our company’s getting a new espresso machine. This will save people a lot of money.

How nice to get perks at work.

actually, I complain about all those things. I pretty much stopped drinking coffee in high school (I started drinking espresso, straight, in 7th grade) when I realized it was costing me about $40/week. I rarely went to movie theaters in california…I can’t stomach more than about $7 for that, which thankfully, is about what they cost everywhere except LA. I also mostly gave up soda, but not so much because of the cost, so much as that beer is just so much better.
There is a restaurant here in Eugene that has a special on Thursdays: a (good) 1/3 lb bacon or mushroom cheese burger with fries and TWO beers for $8.

You can have my 2 beers and 1/3 lb. burger will last me 2 meals. That would be really cheap.
