I think I will take a break from reading Laurie King’s series of Mary Russell. (Thanks, K, for lending them to me.)
I just finished reading A Letter of Mary by King. It took me over a month. I kept falling asleep!
I like the mystery in King’s books, but what I don’t like are too many asides to the main plot. I suppose it helps with character development and all that. But it gets to be too much to the point where it detracts from the mystery.
In A Letter to Mary, the storyline took twists and turns, leading the reader down a path that leads nowhere. Then the resolution was not very clever at all.
I wish Agatha Christie was still alive!

If she was, she would be 118 and probably still producing classic detective stories full of suspense, plotting and characterisation…….
