{"id":2369,"date":"2015-12-04T10:46:08","date_gmt":"2015-12-04T18:46:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.katylee.com\/blog\/?p=2369"},"modified":"2015-12-04T10:58:01","modified_gmt":"2015-12-04T18:58:01","slug":"advent-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/katylee.com\/blog\/2015\/12\/04\/advent-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"Advent 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I started on December 1 to meditate on a daily advent devotional, following <a href=\"http:\/\/www.desiringgod.org\/books\/good-news-of-great-joy\" target=\"_blank\">John Piper&#8217;s plan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of my thoughts.<\/p>\n<p>Day 1 Luke 1:16-17<\/p>\n<p>Focusing on Jesus is not as easy as it seems. I am too\u00a0familiar with the Christmas account that it has lost some of the grandeur and awe for me. Let&#8217;s prepare our hearts to receive Jesus afresh.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Gather &#8217;round that fire this Advent season. It is warm. It is sparkling with colors of grace. It is healing for a thousand hurts. It is light for dark nights.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Day 2 Luke 1:46-55<\/p>\n<p>God manifests himself to the ordinary. Look for him among the least of these. Be one of the lowly.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The only people whose soul can truly magnify the Lord are people like Elizabeth and Mary &#8211; people who acknowledge their lowly estate and are overwhelmed by the condescension of the magnificent God.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Day 3 Luke 1:68-71<\/p>\n<p>Jesus came to save his people, but not in the way the Jews expected. Am I also so short-sighted to expect him to only save me from my circumstances?<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These are the days of great expectation. Now the long awaited visitation of God was about to happen &#8211; indeed, he was about to come in a way no one expected.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/katylee.com\/blog\/2015\/12\/04\/advent-2015-day-4\/\">Day 4\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I started on December 1 to meditate on a daily advent devotional, following John Piper&#8217;s plan.
