Here is my first post under my new catagory of Book Review. I want to keep track of the books I read. Now that I am not in school, I can simply read for pleasure, no pressure of a test, don’t have to remember details and dates. I usually don’t even remember the author’s name.<\/p>\n

I do remember the author of the book I am currently reading: Rex Stout, mystery writer. I like murder mysteries with no graphic violence. Books written more than 40 years ago usually suit my taste. Rob<\/a> introduced me to this writer.<\/p>\n

The detective hero of Rex Stout is Nero Wolfe<\/a>. I am currently reading 3 at Wolfe’s Door<\/em>, a compilation of 3 stories. The first one is Poison a la Carte<\/em>. Let me tell you honestly, this one is not worth reading<\/strong>. The 5 suspects were interviewed and examined again and again with no new information revealed. All of a sudden, under a little pressure, the murderer confesses. It was most unsatisfying. There was no clear explanation, and the motive was weak. So don’t waste your time.<\/p>\n

The second story is Method Three for Murder<\/em>. The detective had to solve the case of a dead woman found in a taxi. This one is intriguing, a decently good ending, though there could have been more clues so that the reader could be more involved.<\/p>\n

I am starting on the 3rd one<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I like this Nero Wolfe series because Wolfe and his assistant\/sidekick Archie Goodwin are humorous. The reading is light, not much heavy thinking or hard vocabulary. Television movies were made from a few of the books, but I have not seen them.<\/p>\n
