{"id":815,"date":"2008-10-02T19:54:16","date_gmt":"2008-10-03T03:54:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.katylee.com\/blog\/?p=815"},"modified":"2008-10-02T19:54:16","modified_gmt":"2008-10-03T03:54:16","slug":"two-simple-questions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/katylee.com\/blog\/2008\/10\/02\/two-simple-questions\/","title":{"rendered":"Two simple questions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.str.org\" target=\"_blank\">Stand To Reason<\/a> Ambassador Insights that are emailed to me by Greg Koukl:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Earlier I wrote about everyday encounters we all have in restaurants.\u00c2\u00a0 As an ambassador I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve learned that encounters are the bread and butter of my witness for Christ.<\/p>\n<p>For example, while giving a talk at a local Barnes &amp; Noble, someone asked why it was necessary for him to believe in Jesus.\u00c2\u00a0 He was Jewish, believed in God, and was living a moral life.\u00c2\u00a0 Those were the important things, it seemed to him\u00e2\u20ac\u201dhow one lived, not what one believed.<\/p>\n<p>To him our message depicted a narrow-minded God pitching people into Hell because of an arcane detail of Christian theology\u00e2\u20ac\u201dJesus.\u00c2\u00a0 How should I answer?<\/p>\n<p>Remember that the first responsibility of an ambassador is knowledge\u00e2\u20ac\u201dwhich includes an accurately informed message.\u00c2\u00a0 What is our message?<\/p>\n<p>One way to say it is, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153If you don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t believe in Jesus, you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll go to Hell.\u00c2\u00a0 If you do believe, you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll go to Heaven.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>That\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s certainly true, as far as it goes.\u00c2\u00a0 The problem is it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not clear.\u00c2\u00a0 Since it doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t give an accurate sense of why Jesus is necessary, it makes God sound petty.<\/p>\n<p>So how do we fix this?\u00c2\u00a0 Here\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s how I responded to my Jewish questioner.\u00c2\u00a0 I asked him two simple questions.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Cliff-hanger here&#8230;<br \/>\nWhat are those two questions?<\/p>\n<p>Have you ever talked to someone like this Jewish man?
