You can do something and have no recollection that you did it. A scary thought.
I had a library book that was due. I searched for it in order to return it before the due date, couldn’t find it, and thought I lost it. When Mike checked my library account, it showed that it was returned! I checked at the library and there it was, on the shelf.
The last time Mike and I went somewhere overnight without the children was before Amy was born. We went to Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas, both times were for semi-business when Century 21 was promoting the sale of Mexico property. I remember leaving Elliot and Audrey with friends for 2 days; they were about 6-7 years old. It was a big deal for us to go that far, by air, and leave the kids. that was pre-cell phone era; I couldn’t even check on them. I am thankful to God that we came home safe, otherwise they would’ve been orphaned.
Christmas is 5 days away. I love this season. This and Easter are the two holidays that Christians should get excited about.
Yes, I know the world is trying to take out the “religious” aspects. People call it Winter Holiday and Spring Holiday; it’s all about Santa and Easter bunnies. Sure, they can take away the external form of the holiday, but it cannot take away the inner reality of the events for the Christian.
It’s almost the end of 2004. Remember all the hype about Y2K, start of a new century? All that is already in the distant past. My life on earth is at least 50% over, most likely more than that. However, compare to life in eternity with God, I’ve barely started. What a hope I have in Jesus. Without Him, I have no hope in the present world.
Guest teacher in Amy’s class: “If you are from Portugal, you are…..”
Student: “Puerto Rican!”
Guest teacher: “If you are from Portugal, you are Portugese. When you get old, you are a Portugeser!”

We often refer to the “power of the Holy Spirit” in the sense of performing miraculous acts – healing, speaking in tongues, and the like.
But we need to give the Holy Spirit credit for more.
The power of the Holy Spirit gives us hope (Rom 15:13)
The Holy Spirit talks to us to give us instructions (Acts 10:19-20)
The Holy Spirit gives us discernment between good and evil (Acts 13:9-10)
“Can you spare some change for some food?”
“No, I don’t want to give you money, but, here, I will buy you a hot dog.”
Just next to us was a hot dog stand. The man was hesitant. I think he would rather have the money. But he ate the hot dog.
