What a great day it was for the Walnut Family Festival! The day was nice and cool, no rain, just right to spend a day enjoying life in our community. In a small city of 30,000, there is not a whole lot to get excited about. So this annual affair complete with a parade, games, live bands, booths, and food was a big deal. It’s a good time to corner your City Council members to make sure they hear your side on the issues.

If I had read this book 10 years ago, maybe we would not have made some of the financial mistakes we’ve made.
The Richest Man in Babylon by George S. Clason is a simple book with very sound principles for financial management. Lessons are illustrated through engaging fictional stories set in old time Babylon written…
When life is not what we expect, we can trust God that it can turn out BETTER than what we expect.
Here’s a true story that illustrates that. I heard it on Family Life today.

Today’s sermon was on the feeding of the 5,000.
If you’ve been a Christian for about 30 years like I have, you would’ve heard a zillion sermons on the feeding of the 5,000 like I have. I’ve studied and taught it myself a zillion times.

Kids bring out the best and the worst in me.
I love kids – when they are cute, sweet, cuddly, behaving well, and doing what I tell them to do.

It was rather an exciting afternoon moving Audrey into her dorm at UCLA 2 weeks ago.
Audrey’s move-in time was Saturday from 4-5pm. It was bumper to bumper traffic to get into her dorm area. I don’t deal well with losses.
Last night we sold our little Tercel. It made me sad and kept me up part of the night. He (he is a “he” to me although people say cars are female) was such a good little car for us. He was easy to maneuver, got good gas mileage, the radio and air conditioning worked great, and the paint job was not faded though it was a 12-year-old car.
“She had looked her duty courageously in the face and found it a friend – as duty ever is when we meet it frankly.”
