Abraham

Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, . . . Romans 4:18

God told Abraham clearly that he will be the father of many nations. God said, “I will make you very fruitful; I will make nations of you, and kings will come to you.” (Genesis 17:6) God changed his name from Abram, which means “exalted father”, which is pretty good already, to Abraham, meaning “father of many”, which is even better.

The flood

So God said to Noah, “I have decided that all living creatures must die, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. Now I am about to destroy them and the earth.” Genesis 6:13

But God saved Noah, and from his family, the earth was populated once more, and sin abounded once more.

Cain murdered his brother Abel, and then had guts to reply to the Lord with such arrogance and deceit. Did he really think he was going to get away with it?
