I think that is consistent with the concept of the sovereignty of God.
Where then does faith fit in? I think the overall purposes of God will to fulfilled, but I am the one who will miss out if I fail in my faith.
“Now I understand why real estate agents are skinny.”
That was a comment from my client after she saw all the work I was doing for her in the purchase of her house.
Most people don’t really know what a real estate agent does. They think we just drive around showing houses to people. That is the easiest part of the job.
The story is so simple, the writing is so easy to read, yet the concepts about life are so poignant.
In the book, Artist of the Floating World, by Kazuo Ishiguro, the artist Masuji Ono made a decision to use his artistic abilities for what he thought was a greater good. Instead of painting the “floating world” of physical beauty and pleasures, he chose to join the imperialist movement in Japan that led the country into World War II.

Picnics seem to be a great venue to draw people together.
A picnic is open enough so you can talk to whoever you want. You can walk around and easily talk to whoever you see. A private conversation can be had by simply walking a few feet away.

I am doing 3 loads of laundry today.
Yesterday I did one load of laundry.
Tomorrow I’ll probably do another load of laundry.
And so it goes.
Is this what life is about?
80%, or even 90% of what I do is repetitive. What I accomplished today will have to be done again tomorrow. It doesn’t seem like I am getting ahead. Is maintaining life all there is to life?
“You are a good mom. I want to be a mother like you one day.”
Someone said that to me yesterday, and it is to me the best compliment I could ever receive.
There is not a single thing I have invested my life in more than what I have put into my children. Seeing my efforts pay off is most gratifying.
Nagging is so satisfying because you feel like you are doing something productive to get the work done.
You want the trash taken out by your son, and he doesn’t. So you nag him. It gives you a sense of satisfaction to think that he will take the trash out now that you’ve nagged him. Nagging gives the feeling that you have control over him and over the trash situation.

I saw that on a shirt on the man in front of me at the post office today. It made the waiting time felt shorter. :)
