3 down

Today we gave away three of our baby hamsters to a loving home.

Here is the story:

Amy and I were at Petsmart buying our pet supplies. As usual, we browse through all the tanks of fish, cages of birds, and enclosures of small animals. While we were looking at the hamsters, an employee took out the dwarf hamster cage to pick one out for a customer. Behind them was a family of two moms and two little girls, waiting for their turn to pick a hamster.

“Gross!” You say. “What are those???”

Our hamsters, Marshmallow and Creme, female and male respectively we just found out, had 6 babies on March 15th. Count them – there are 6 little pink hamster babies, one day old! We suspected Marshmallow was pregnant because her behind looked fat.

Aren’t they adorable???

Don’t worry, it gets better…

No lie

When someone who has a vested interest in a product that she praises, I tend to doubt whether she is truly telling me the whole story. I am not saying she would lie, but perhaps she would omit some truths. I would only trust her claims if I am able to prove and see the results for myself.

Ecclesiastes

The sermon at church yesterday was one of the best I have heard on the book of Ecclesiastes.

Pastor Norbert summarized the book with 3 main points:

1. Trusting in God’s sovereignty allows us to live with life’s mysteries.

My 5-year-old niece suddenly died on March 12th. Though she had many physical challenges when she…

Appendicitis

Last night, Amy couldn’t sleep because of a stomachache that she’s had on and off for the whole day.

I googled the symptoms of appendicitis. She didn’t have a fever or loss of appetite (in fact, she ate a lot at dinner). But she did have rebound tenderness, and pain on the lower right side.

Though bamboo has been used in buildings in China and elsewhere in the world for millennia, it has not penetrated the industrialized construction market (though bamboo scaffolding is used in Asia in the construction of high-rise buildings)

A USC prof is researching and promoting the use of bamboo in place of steel for construction. (Do you have any comments, Dan?)
When we were in Hong Kong a few years ago, the sight of bamboo scaffolding going up a high rise building was unbelievable. We are not talking a few stories high, but the bamboo stretches up 20-30 stories high that seemed to sway in the breeze.

Fight back!

“Gravity and the sun are our enemies.” – enemies of our skin and of aging.

My friend demonstrated Jafra skin care products on me. I “exfoliated” my face, spritzed on something, dabbed on anti-wrinkle creme, rubbed on royal jelly that “penetrates to the third level of skin cells.”

I am fighting back against the enemies!

Wisdom

A caller asked Dr. Laura what to do:

She is pregnant and her shacked up boyfriend just told her he is leaving her. She had been living with him and his small children from a previous relationship…

Why do these people get into these messes? Why are girls so desperate for a man? Can’t they tell a loser when they see one?
