My opinion on books I am curently reading
War of Gifts is short story by Orson Scott Card using the setting and some of the characters in Ender’s Game.
The story is somewhat humorous, aggravating, sad, and thought-provoking. And it had a good ending, so I liked it. Card is so clever in weaving a story while dealing with the difficult real life subject of child abuse and religion.
I read on a blog that this was a good book. I have to rush through it because it’s due back at the library today.
Good To Great for the Social Sector by Jim Collins is a monograph to accompany Good To Great. Collins brings out 5 issues and how the social sectors apply them differently from the business sectors.
I said I wouldn’t read another one, but it was available in the library, I couldn’t resist.
Shadow Puppet is next in the series after Shadow of the Hegemon. The story is exciting, but the characters are getting old. Same good guys, same bad guys.

I’ve read many of Rex Stout‘s Nero Wolfe series.
I got this book from the library, Her Forbidden Knight, mistakenly thinking that it was part of the Nero Wolfe detective series.
This turned out to be a cute romance, set in New York back in the days when telegrams existed, chivalry existed, and handshakes after a date existed. It’s an old-fashion story where men protect the honor of a woman, and the woman wants to be protected.
These books are too addicting.
I promise I am not going to read the next one. It’s keeping me up at night.

Since reading Ender’s Game, my husband recommended the companion book Ender’s Shadow by Orson Scott Card.
I am not usually a scifi reader, but this series is less scifi and more about character development. The main characters, the kids, have complex backgrounds lending to their involved personalities. As the story progresses, the kids grow in a genuine way as kids would. The fun part is, they can outsmart the adults.
I finally got the book from the library that Elliot recommended. Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card.
I must say, this author is pretty versatile. This book is very different from the one I read before. Overall, I liked both books. I know every scifi lover has read the Ender’s Game series. But since I am not usually a scifi reader, I am probably not going to rate it as high as others may.
I think I will take a break from reading Laurie King’s series of Mary Russell. (Thanks, K, for lending them to me.)
