“The greatest gift you can give someone is your time.”

When I was young, I didn’t think this was true. I had no concept of time’s limit. When I was young, I thought I had all the time in the world.

As I get older, I realize more than half my life is gone. I don’t have much time left, on earth that is. My time is very valuable. Using it for blogging, well, I hope this leaves something for my children to read when I am gone. I hope it brings them amusement and some truths to live by.

Praying

When and how do you pray? In the car? On the bed? Before a meal?

Do you ever take a concentrated time and pray on your knees?

I am going to do that.

Imagine if one of my children wants to ask me for a huge favor, something very serious and urgent. Does she just run by casually and leave quickly? No, she would stop everything she is doing and begs until I say yes. She would demand my full attention, and do whatever it takes to make sure I listen and respond.
I think we take God’s love and mercy for granted.

I  pray and expect him to answer, when I haven’t even shown seriousness in my prayers.

A while back, I started praying on my knees. It really readjusted my attitude about the seriousness of prayer. But I wanted to be comfortable, and didn’t make it a priority. Is God happy with that? Thank God that he is all loving, patient and full of mercy. I need to treat him with respect and honor, not take his kindness for granted.

I am encouraged today to go to God on my knees, literally.

Motivation

Whether you can or want to do something are completely different things. I CAN clean the house if I WANT to. I am certainly able to.
I was thinking about this because I thought I am not good at keeping the house clean. That is not true. It is not a difficult task to clean the house. I may not be very efficient. I may take twice as long as a professional housekeeper. But I CAN do it.

The fact is, I don’t want to. Instead I am sitting here writing about it.

Disneyland

Buzz Lightyear ride was cool, but is the scoring really accurate? Half the time I couldn’t see my dot on the target.

Walnut High School marching band was awesome! They played Zippadeedooda all the way down Main Street. Is that how you spell it??

The food at the Plaza was not bad, not as bad as it could’ve been – pot roast or 3 pieces of friend chicken with mash potatoes.

We brought in some empanadas to snack on so we wouldn’ have to buy Disneyland’s junk food. But I got sick from eating them.

The Peter Pan ride is great! We flew over Big Ben into Neverland. I love that ride.

For some reason, I missed seeing the abominable snow man every other time I was on the Matterhorn. My eyes were probably closed. This time I sighted him, twice.

Nothing will get me on the teacup ride, especially after eating empanadas!

Fireworks were fantastic, worth staying up for.

I only wish Disneyland would not center all their stuff around their movie characters. I am getting quite sick of the princesses.

Even without my caption you know this is Disneyland. Mike, Amy and I spent the whole day there, 13 hours to be exact.

We go once a year on the day when Audrey is there with the Walnut High School band.

I will blog more about this later.

Books I Like

You probably love your spouse very much, but he/she may not feel that you do.

The book describes five different ways in which people express and receive love; acts of service, quality time, words of affirmation, physical touch, or gifts. The key is to discover your spouse’s love language and learn how to effectively express love and truly feel loved in return.

I think there are often simple misunderstanding between couples that leads to great dissatisfaction in the relationship. Misunderstanding one another’s love language is one.

I have no doubt that my husband loves me, he would give his life for me. But oftentimes I don’t feel that he loves me. My love language is words of affirmation and quality time. I try to let him know this so that he can express his love for me in ways that make me feel loved. I have to admit that I have to remind him of this a lot! And yes, I try to speak his love language. I think it has helped our relationship.

And I haven’t even read the book! I heard a program on this on Family Life radio program. This book is on my wish list.

Elliot’s post made me laugh!

An experience of a bad stomachache caused the proverbial “his whole life flashed before him.”

It made me also consider my life. Life is good. I do enjoy living.

Life will even be better when I cross over to the other side of eternal living – heaven.

If I had a choice, I would like to live until all my children are married or settled well. They will not miss me as much then when I die. I am not afraid to die for my own sake. I just don’t want my children to be without a mother. When they don’t need me, I am ready to go home. Well, maybe I’d like to see one or two grandkids. But honestly, I wouldn’t want to live too long.

Audrey passed her permit test and started her driving lessons this past weekend. The instructor said she is very calm. She may be calm, but I sure am not!

She drove me to church yesterday. My back and neck ached from the tension when I got there!

“Can I drive home from church, mom?”

“Over my dead body!”
“That can be arranged.”

I am sure it can be easily arranged. Just let her try to make a left turn at a busy intersection and I will keel over with a heart attack.

How did I ever manage to get my driver’s license? In those days, there were no restrictions after you get your license at 16. But in those days, drivers were much more courteous, the term “road rage” did not exist, and cars had more steel.

Kids keep you on your knees, through every stage of growth.

Is 30:18

Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you;

he rises to show you compassion.

For the LORD is a God of justice.

Blessed are all who wait for Him!

isaiah 30:18

The Lord is ready, willing, and able to bless you. All we have to do is wait for Him.
