Satisfaction

Cleaning house can be rewarding.

I wiped down the kitchen cabinets, the greasy vent hood, and the dusty top of the refrigerator today.

I felt a great sense of satisfaction, even though no one but me would notice the change.

Tomorrow I am planning to super scrub the kitchen floor, O Yeah!

9/11

The previous generation would say they will always remember exactly where they were and what they were doing when JFK was assasinated.

Our generation will say we will always remember exactly where we were and what we were doing when the World Trade Center was hit on 9/11, 2001.

Did you know this?

The State funds are our taxes. Why should the use of my tax dollars be tied to a social agenda? Even though I support marriage only between a man and a woman, I would not want the use of State funds to be used only by people who are married. It’s not only people of faith who should be upset. It should be anyone who does not believe that our tax dollars should be be used to force a minority group’s special interests.
This is from Gary Bauer’s End of the Day Report.

Yesterday was Amy’s first day at Suzanne Middle School. She was all ready to go – new backpack and her schedule of classes. Oh, I do wish I can turn back the time, just for a few moments, to carry my children in my arms just one more time…

I met up with some other moms for our annual back-to-school breakfast together. How important it is to go through these experiences with friends who understand. Our friendship goes back to when Elliot was in preschool, over 14 years ago, some even longer than that, before we had children. The conversation and laughter reminded me to enjoy this stage of my life. There is no looking back.

Audrey passed her driving test on Friday! She can now officially drive on her own. Yesterday she drove to the library by herself. Today she drove to Sav-On.

A taste of Freedom!

Another life stage for me…

New insight

I started to teach the book of Luke in Sunday School yesterday.

My reasons for choosing to teach Luke are:

1. To get reacquainted with Jesus so as to live more like him.
2. The book of Luke seems to be less read than the other gospels.

3. I read that 50% of the materials in Luke are not included in the other 3 gospels and it is the longest book in the New Testament.

I struggled with gaining insights from chapter 1 as I prepared the lesson because everything seem so familiar. When it is familiar, my mind glosses over it lazily. I really prayed that God would give me something to teach. This was Friday and I did not have inspiration to teach on Sunday.
Then something interesting struck me. Why did the angel Gabriel insist that Zechariah and Elizabeth name their child John? Everyone thought they should name the child after someone in their family, and no one in their family was named John. Why not let the parents name the child whatever they want, isn’t that every parent’s prerogative? Z and E waited so long to have this child, and is probably the only child they will have. Surely they want to pick the name. Did God have a reason for commanding them to name the child John?

Study that and see what God is teaching us.

Read my mind

If you know a person well, I bet you can figure out their passwords to things.
I was thinking of this because whenever I have to pick a password, I naturally fall into a certain line of thinking and come up with codes that I relate to. it’s so hard, near impossible, to think outside of your experiences, to look at things in life in a different way. We are limited by who we are. Do you sometimes wish you can be more than you are?

I think having a wide variety of experiences would probably expand your thinking. So would reading diverse types of literature.
