The race

Look here for a picture of all the cars in the Dell-Winston Solar Car Challenge.
Our team in center front in the picture.
Ok, that one with the professionally crafted fiberglass body should not be in this high school race. What kind of budget did they have??? A private school obviously.

Solar Car

After 8+ months of working On the solar car, they are off to the race!
See their website for some recent photos.

After having these guys at my house every weekend, and for the last 3 weeks, everyday for 8 hours a day, you would think I would be relieved to see them go. But I really miss them terribly! I feel empty, perhaps a prelude to the empty nest syndrome.

Time for another project, another vision. Life’s excitement continues…

Father’s Day

“Thank you for always being so kind to do all the work you are asked to do.”

This was in Amy’s Father’s Day card to her dad.
It is true; I have the nicest husband!

“Is God trustworthy?“

If your answer is Yes, then you have nothing to worry about in life.
If your answer is No, then who is your God?
If your answer is I don’t know, maybe you should find out.
If your answer is I don’t believe there is a God, trusting in anything else is a scary thought, isn’t it?

A great Sunday

We spent the last several days cleaning the pool and the outside to prepare for the church to come use our pool for baptism this past Sunday. It was a very warm afternoon with 85F temperature. But last time when we had baptism here, it was in the fall, and our pool heater was not working! The pastor and baptism candidates had purple lips. This time, I wanted to make sure it was going to be warm. So we turned on the new pool heater in the morning. By 2 pm when they came for baptism, the water was 90F! Nice bath water to be baptised in.

Afterwards Amy and 3 friends swam. I was hoping more people would stay for swimming to make it worthwhile. It was a great time having the church family here. And to see 3 changed lives, the 3 who were baptised, that was the greatest blessing.

Today, Dottie McKissick of BSF Glendora gave her last lecture, retiring after 35 years as a Teaching Leader. She got a standing ovation. She is consistently the best lecturer I’ve ever heard. She is insightful, makes the Bible practical, and able to cover a lot of material in 45 minutes. Whenever I study and teach the Bible, I think, “What would Dottie say about this?” I, along with 500 other women in the Glendora BSF class, will miss her.

Nice

Got this from my friend Theresa:

A simple friend, when visiting, acts like a guest.
A real friend opens your refrigerator and helps himself.

A simple friend has never seen you cry.
A real friend has shoulders soggy from your tears.

A simple friend doesn’t know your parents’ first names.
A real friend has their phone numbers in his address book.

A simple friend brings a bottle of wine to your party.
A real friend comes early to help you cook and stays late to help you clean.

A simple friend hates it when you call after he has gone to bed.
A real friend asks you why you took so long to call

A simple friend seeks to talk with you about your problems.
A real friend seeks to help you with your problems.

A simple friend wonders about yourromantic history.
A real friend could blackmail you with it.

A simplefriend thinks the friendship is over when you have an argument.
A real friend calls you after you had a fight.

A simple friend expects you to always be there for them.
A real friend expects to always be there for you!

Good Answer

A caller to Dr. Laura’s radio show: “I’ve been dating a married man for 3 months. What do you think are the chances that he will leave his wife and marry me?”

Dr. Laura: “The scummier he is, the better your chances!”
